Those with fashion degrees hold positions as fashion designers, merchandisers (also known as “buyers”) and fashion manufacturers. A fourth of those who receive fashion degrees are entrepreneurs. Therefore fashion programs that balance artistic craftsmanship with business, marketing and manufacturing-related courses are the most popular. Fashion is highly competitive and almost guarantees having to live in a large metropolis. Fashion design schools commonly require a portfolio to get in, as well as internship experience.
