Highly successful hotel managers are natural-born leaders and salespersons that see themselves as “PR” representatives of their hotel employer, while duly overseeing a sizeable staff. Additionally, they often take an active role in the marketing of their hotel. Most start their careers as assistants hotel managers, and those who advance quickly do so largely in part of their work-study experience acquired while pursuing their hotel management degree. Those with hotel management degrees have a much higher chance of being placed in well-paying positions at full-service hotels.
