HVAC/R Overview

An HVAC/R technician is someone who installs, maintains and repairs heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and appliances. HVAC/R technicians work for repair shops, utility companies, contractors or run their own business. In addition to their HVAC/R degree, technicians are generally required to be certified by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency).
