Earning a master's degree can be a good way to pull ahead of the pack when looking for employment. According to Forbes, these are some of the best advanced degrees for people looking to enter the job market.

Using data from Payscale.com and the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the news source concluded that one of the best options for people who are looking for jobs is a degree to become a physician's assistant.

"They are a good substitute for doctors in primary care," says Al Lee, Payscale’s director of quantitative analysis. "There is a greater demand for medical professionals as the healthcare industry continues to grow strongly. And physician assistants are knowledgeable and capable, yet they’re cheaper than doctors."

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the number of physician assistant jobs is expected to grow by 39 percent between 2008 and 2018, which is significantly higher than the average rate across all occupations.

Another top option is a master's degree in computer science. With a mid-career median salary of $109,000 and a job growth rate of 27 percent by 2018, this degree is ideal for those who want to use an understanding of computers to aid businesses in implementing new technology.
