A survey of business executives conducted by the Robert Half Professional Employment Report indicates that students may have the best luck finding a job if they study subjects related to law or marketing.

During the survey, the authors of the report interviewed more than 4,000 executives regarding their hiring plans and optimism over the next quarter. One major finding of the paper was that many business leaders have trouble finding qualified and skilled applicants, with 42 percent saying that this posed a challenge.

To address this issue, students who are interested in working in the professional world can seek out advanced degrees, either at traditional universities or through online programs.

Another important finding of the report was that the strongest hiring activity will take place in the legal sector, with 30 percent of law firms and 19 percent of marketing executives indicating that they intend to hire more staff during the next three months.

In addition, hiring is projected to be the most active in the West South Central and Pacific regions of the country, with a net 6 percent of companies planning to add new staff.
