What are the technology requirements for taking online classes?
When students are researching the option of earning a degree online, one thing they should consider is what type of technology it may take to pursue a web-based credential. Typically, each college or university has its own requirements for cyber courses, which can be found on their websites or by calling their admissions offices.
Still, many online schools have similar recommendations when it comes to what types of electronics students should possess in order to earn a web-based degree. Most institutions state that individuals must have tools such as Microsoft Office, which includes PowerPoint and Word. Additionally, some schools require that students have Internet access and at least 20 GB of hardware space. Other devices, such as CD-ROM drives and printers may also be helpful for online education seekers.
Similar to campus-based classes, students may be required to purchase additional technology tools for specific courses. For example, certain classes may enhance individuals' education by asking them to use Adobe Photoshop or Dreamweaver, Alice, Visual Logic or Red Hat Linux. Students may want to contact their professors ahead of time in order to see what their exact electronic requirements will be.
