As distance learning has risen in popularity, many have begun to favor studying online. Linking up with tutors and educators with the simple aid of an internet connection, collegiates can find ample academic support.

Now, college students in Massachusetts may be able to improve their performance in school. They will have access to online instructors who can provide science, math and writing assistance around the clock.

Massachusetts Colleges Online has partnered with Smarthinking, Inc. to provide online tutoring support to students at all of the state's public institutions of higher learning.

Moreover, a number of community colleges and University of Massachusetts campuses will be able to offer tutoring assistance to their students. Smarthinking already serves five universities in the state, and individuals who are enrolled at these institutions have engaged in nearly 12,000 individual tutoring sessions.

Lynn Zayac, director of an instructional technology center at Westfield State University, noted that "with Smarthinking we are able to offer online tutoring in a wide range of disciplines with extensive operating hours. Access to online tutoring provides help for students who can’t take advantage of our on-campus resources during the day."
