They often perform routine tasks to help prepare prescribed medication, such as counting tablets and labeling bottles. They also may perform various administrative duties, such as answering telephone inquiries, and handling take inventory of prescription and over-the-counter medications. In addition, pharmacy technicians may maintain patient profiles and prepare insurance claim forms.
