Online Secondary Education Schools

Secondary school teachers (grades 7 through 12) explore in depth with their students subjects introduced in middle school. Secondary school teachers primarily teach a specific subject, such as a foreign language, mathematics, history, or biology. They also may work as vocational education instructors, training students to work in a variety of fields, such as healthcare, auto repair, communications, audio-visual and technology. Teachers may work with parents in helping their children with areas in which they need help in achieving their academic goals.

In addition to teaching in the classroom environment, teachers oversee homerooms and student activities outside of class, coach sports and accompany students on field trips. Secondary school teachers may advise students in choosing courses, assist with the college admission process, and provide career counseling.
